Healthy Habits to Start Your Day Right
Not everyone is exactly a “morning person.” We are a sleep deprived society where we are constantly going, going, going throughout the day and it shows no signs of slowing down. But there is hope! The habits you set in the morning can determine the rest of your day and Williams Bros. Health Care has a few easy ways to start your day on the right foot even if you are not a morning person:
Don’t Hit the Snooze Button: When the alarm goes off, your adrenaline kicks in and your body is ready to go, so get up! Dosing those few extra minutes in the morning can mess up your entire day by throwing off your internal clock. When you hit snooze button, your mind and body become confused and it can make you more sluggish. Banish the button!
Exercise: It may seem counter-intuitive, but working out in the morning has been shown to have big perks. Morning exercise can make you more productive, help you sleep better, and can increase in energy levels throughout the day. Get up and get moving!
Drink More Water: we all like a cup of coffee in the morning, but drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning may be better. Drinking a big glass of water will help wake you up immediately and will kick-start your metabolism. Try keeping a glass of water by your bedside so it is the first thing you reach for when you wake up in the morning and then go make coffee.
Get Outside: Try starting each day with a short walk outside. Not a walker? Try sitting outside to get some fresh air (as the weather in Indiana permits of course). Studies have found that getting outside for a few minutes every day can increase your creativity and happiness and can help you feel more alert throughout the day.
