Williams Brothers Health Care Pharmacy has been here since 1899. As such, we consider the communities we do business in to be an extension of our own family. That’s why we made a concerted effort in 2017 to give back charitably to local organizations. Here’s a look back at a few of them:
Caring for Cody
Our New Albany location helped support a Pekin, Indiana family whose 2-year-old son, Cody, has a rare medical condition. The family has sold nearly everything in an effort to care for their toddler. We raised money through a series of benefits to help take care of their clinical and daily needs. One of our retired vehicles that was going to auction was also donated to the family, since they could no longer afford the repairs on their old car and had to give it up.
Relay for Life.
Several Williams Brothers locations raised money for Relay for Life. The first one took place in April on behalf of the Backyard Bloomers. While our goal was $500, we raised $1,016.94.
Over the summer, our Loogootee location raised $800 for the Daviess-Martin Country Relay for Life event, while the Washington location raised $1,200. The money from the Washington location went for Team Andrea, which was formed by the friends and family of Andrea Boes, who was just 29 years old when she lost her fight to brain cancer in 2009.
Children’s Organ Transplant Association.
The Loogootee location raised $1,275.68 for the Children’s Organ Transplant Association on behalf of Brittany Walker. Brittany is a local teen who received a life-saving liver transplant in September. After a $500 match, the total amount came to $1,775.68!
Our Olney location painted pumpkins and invited people to vote money on their favorite one. All the proceeds went to the Richland County Senior Center.
At Williams Bros., we truly believe that life’s biggest rewards come from when you give back. We look forward to everything that 2018 will bring, and the lives we will be able to touch with future fundraisers!
